The Split Towers of our design for MIMC are designed to create a unique statement in the skyline of Dubai.
Not only a landmark on the city’s skyline, the towers, and the podium they’re built on, together form a transit-oriented hub for living, leisure and hospitality, where people can shop, stay at the hotel, pick up groceries, enjoy a meal, do exercise, or even enjoy the scenery of Sheikh Khalifa tower and the city while having coffee at the sky gardens & Bar at level 60, all in one interconnected environment.
The project is part of our ongoing research into Super living, in this case into strategies to create sustainable, healthy complex that offers a high quality of life, while also addressing future needs for greater efficiency in Dubai in times of rapid urbanization and growth.
Every element of the proposed design serves a purpose. The external central atrium for instance, created by splitting the program into two leaning towers, is designed as an ascending space of dramatic volume, creating shelter over a beautiful urban gathering arena on top of the podium.
The towers are enveloped by overlapping layers of glazed skin, forming seamless connectivity and allowing an abundance of sunlight into the spaces to introduce a unique indoor quality.
The higher tower as well as its leaning twin ends up with a challenging triangular inclined cut. At the hotel roof gardens and sky bar the cut is oriented towards the Burj Khalifa Tower, while at the owner’s penthouse in the lower tower, the cut is directed towards the Dubai Creek; both allowing fantastic views of the best attractions in the city.
The main focus is social services support for Emirati families and the project is close to the heart of its patron Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak. Facilities for families include an 800 seat auditorium for concerts in the smaller mass, a Library equipped with latest information technology, Exhibition Halls, a Creche, as well as multi-purpose halls in the podium and the larger tower contains the offices and meeting rooms for the Family Advisors. The podium itself provides a spacious and pleasant external social space adjacent the foyer and restaurant for the Auditorium.

Designed especially for car-lovers, this building is to provide entertainment and hospitality during the F1 Grand Prix event. The design took a very direct approach and devised a solution which mimics a racing car engine, even with cylinders and pistons. An elegant clear glass box encloses all the “engine parts,” and permits views of the vibrant social activities inside.

The idea is to provide a private female-only environment where women and their children may visit for sports, recreational, cultural and artistic activities, with also a health and relaxation side at Yas Island.
The subject was carefully researched, including analysis of existing Ladies Club facilities elsewhere, to see how they work, and to gain an insight into the kind of expectations the ladies may have, and to then perhaps be able to exceed them.
A very feminine character of the building, with a shading veil over it was designed. It contains for example centres for spa and wellness, sport and health, art and education, children, banqueting and prayer.

Tyre Prints in the Sand
The main drive for the master plan was inspired by tyre prints in the golden sands of Arabia. These wheel tracks not only constitute the setting-out axis, but in finer detail also form the massing of the different blocks and external spaces. The project is to contain commercial, retail, entertainment and hospitality components as well as of course racing sports facilities. This ambitious project aims to become a major destination for residents and visitors to the UAE.

This wonderful site and its distinguished scenery provided the right element for creating the design direction. Integrating surroundings, natural elements (water & light) and function in a very harmonic fashion. The topography created natural terraces and the curvature which surrounds it, provided the main character and shape of the building - protective spirit or a feeling of being hugged not just by the building but by nature as well.
